Lori Freedman is a Montreal-based musician. Freelance, independent. Meaning, she wears a few hats. She is a performer who plays music for contrabass, bass, A, B-flat, C and E-flat clarinets. She plays written and improvised music, ranging in settings from orchestra, concerti, chamber ensemble and solo. Freedman also writes concert music, music for dance, film and theatre. She performs in all of these arenas both live on stage and in the recording studio. As well as touring extensively Freedman teaches contemporary and improvised music for all instruments.

The members of Broken Merchandise were raised in the same broken down house in the inner city of Juno, Alaska. Even though they are unrelated, the boys all ended up somehow growing up together. As they reached their late teens, they all moved to various Canadian WalMart stores, where they were employed as greeters. Welcome to WalMart, "we love you", was their mantra. For this very special event the boys will be reunited and will perform on broken WalMart hardware items. All WalMart employees will receive free admission, the rest of you pay up.

Eldritch Priest is a composer and improviser. His compositions, which have been performed in NA and EU, are characterized by their ob/excessive approach to melody, not in a systematic or meaningful sense, but in the sense that they don’t stop and are utterly foolish. His improvisations are like this too, but improvised. Eldritch is co-founder and co-artistic director of the now defunct Toronto-based experiential music ensemble Neither/Nor and former member of the Ottawa Sun Ra tribute outfit Rake Star. Eldritch is also a professor At Simon Fraser University and a member of the experimental theory group The Occulture.

Based in Vancouver, Brady Cranfield is a musician and artist and co-operator of Selectors' Records, which specializes in electronic music and dub. Drums are his primary instrument but he also uses electronics and laptop and DJs. His set at Gold Saucer will introduce a new solo improvised project that uses a midi drum kit to trigger processed drum machines. You can also find him playing drums with the heavy rock group Womankind and drum machine with the improvised electronic noise duo Death.Drive.

Vicky Mettler is a guitarist based in Montreal. Her current projects include a song duo Brick with Raphaël Foisy-Couture and a noise/improv quartet Dusk Scored Dark, with Mark Molnar, Bennet Beduokian and Craig Pedersen, as well as her solo project for voice, guitar and electronics. Upcoming releases include a tape with improv quartet featuring Anna Webber (US), Evan Tighe and Erik Hove as well as a debut solo guitar album.

Born in Toronto in 1976, trumpeter Ellwood Epps arrived in Montreal in 2005. Since then he has performed with Josh Zubot, Nicolas Caloia, John Heward, Jean Derome, Marshall Allen, Henry Grimes, William Parker, Mat Maneri, Axel Dorner and John Butcher. In 2008 Epps cofounded the performance space l'Envers as well as the weekly cafe series Mardi Spaghetti; the following years saw an explosion of creative musical activity in Montreal. Epps is the director of the Festival of New Trumpet Music Canada and teaches a popular series of workshops through the Studio d'Improvisatin de Montreal.

Possessing a rare combination of skill and artistry, singer, improviser, composer, and voice teacher Viviane Houle is one of Canada’s most gifted and respected vocalists and improvisers. She is widely recognized for her beautifully fluid and dynamic voice, a remarkable palette of extended vocal techniques, a sensitive lyricism and a fearless spirit.

Clyde Reed is a long time member of the vibrant creative music scene in Vancouver. He has performed at major jazz festivals in North America and Europe: Vancouver Jazz Festival, Toronto Jazz Festival, Ottawa Jazz Festival, Chicago Jazz Festival, Penofin Jazz Festival (California), Bumbershoot Festival (Seattle), Earshot Jazz Festival (Seattle), Berlin Jazz Festival, Lisbon Jazz Festival.

Long-term musical collaborators include Bobby Bradford, Jared Burrows, Nikki Carter, Bruce Freedman, Vinny Golia, Rich Halley, George Lewis, Kenton Loewen, Paul Plimley, Claude Ranger, Dylan van der Schyffe, and Michael Vlatkovich.

“Clyde Reed fashions some of the fattest, funkiest, double bass riffs around ... dynamic, fluid and fun” -- All About Jazz
